It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peggy Jane Anna, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Peggy was born on September 4, 1959, in Yakima, Washington, to Walter Edison Hanthorn and Violet Irene Hanthorn (Cook). She was the fifth of six daughters, Connie, Marcy, Karen, Kathy and Janet.
Peggy graduated from Davis High School in Yakima in 1977, where she excelled in track and cross country. Her passion for running earned her a scholarship to Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington, before she pursued a degree in X-ray technology at Yakima Community College.
On August 7, 1981, Peggy met the love of her life, Michael Charles Anna, in Yakima. They were married on April 10, 1982, and together they built a beautiful life. They briefly moved to Dallas, Texas in 1982 before moving to Renton, Washington, where they lived from 1983 to 1989. They later moved to Oregon, and lived in Beaverton from 1989 to 2024. Peggy spent her final months in Gresham, Oregon.
Peggy was a devoted mother to her four children: Timothy Michael, Joel William, Rachel Irene, and Rebecca Marie. She took great joy in sewing for her family, crafting clothes for her children and grandchildren, and running a small business sewing covers for an aerospace company.
A member of Calvary Chapel Community Church in Beaverton, Peggy touched the lives of many through her kindness and creativity. She is survived by her loving husband, Michael; her children, Timothy Anna, Joel Anna, Rachel Szabo, and Rebecca Evans; her siblings Connie Rupert, Karen Cyr, Kathy Hennessey, and Janet Hanthorn Melhorn; and seven cherished grandchildren.
Peggy was preceded in death by her father, Walter Edison Hanthorn; her mother, Violet Irene Hanthorn; and her sister, Marcy Barnes (Hanthorn).
A private burial was held at Forest Lawn Cemetery on August 30, 2024, at 10 AM. Arrangements were entrusted to Family Memorial Mortuary in Gresham, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of your choice in Peggy's memory.
Peggy's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her. She will be deeply missed.
